- Tree: A low, slender tree.
- Color: Light to dark violet brown with lighter and darker stripes of purple. Develops patina as it ages.
- The Wood: Sometimes referred to as Violetwood or Violete.
- Luster: Bright.
- Texture: Fine.
- Stability: Very stable.
- Strength: Very strong, hard and heavy.
- Polish: Takes a high natural polish.
- Uses: Kingwood is used primarily for inlay, turning and fancy decorative items.
